- Handmade Knives - The Influence of the Metal Worker's Art By:-Ben Rial
Can it perhaps be that a little portion of the bladesmith's mettle is enclosed inside every sword? Maybe the lengthy record of the bladesmithing art takes with it tiny portions of each blacksmith that has taken up the challenge smithing creates? That one way or another a certain psychic element imparts the spirit of the metal worker in each sword he has fashioned. Is that completely idealistic garbage? Maybe, but then again, maybe not. I cannot help but discern a transformation whilst I work on a sword. As if in some sense I transform and become one with the fire, metal, and ringing hammer, even though it is simply a transient feeling.
- Hand Forged Blades - The Soul of a Handmade Blade By:-Ben Rial
Can it perhaps be that a small portion of the bladesmith's energy is enclosed within every knife? Could it be the age old record of the bladesmithing art carries with it tiny portions of each blacksmith that has undergone the challenge smithing creates? That somehow by a certain psychic element endows the essence of the blacksmith in each blade he has fashioned. Is that altogether romantic foolishness? I don't know, although then again, maybe not. I can’t avoid but become aware of a difference when I work on a sword. As if in a particular manner I transcend and feel as if I have somehow, in some way or manner joined with the fire, steel, and ringing hammer, though it is merely a transitory effect.
